About
Vanita was born in Wai, India, a small town near the foothills of the Sahyadri mountains. As a child, she was intrigued by the dynamic scenery and beautiful mountains of Wai and was always eager to sketch the breathtaking landscapes.

She completed her M.A. in English as well as in fine arts and continued her hobby of painting throughout college, exhibiting solo and group exhibitions and winning several awards.
Her first major recognition as an artist came in the final year of her B.A. when she won the ‘Best Artist' award in an intra-university competition. Since then, for the past thirty five years she has done many shows all over the world in cities like New Jersey, New York, Calicut, Boston, Jubail, Baghdad, Dehli, Pune, Mumbai and Wai. She has been featured in several art magazines in India being an special artist in the field of art and cultural heritage.
The defining characteristic of Vanita's art is the bright colors she uses to striking effect – especially red, yellow and blue which form such an important part of Indian culture and traditions. She has explored diverse themes and is comfortable with a variety of media-ink, oil, acrylic, watercolors, wax ,college of papers and even mixed media . Her paintings are embellished with traditional objects and ornaments, which symbolize the strong influence of Indian culture in her art. Her works are a fascinating blend of contemporary style with ancient themes.
Themes that she has explored in the past include Working Women, Rural India, National integration, Historical objects National saints and Indian mythology. More recently, she has shifted her focus to spiritual painting. She spends a significant amount of time exploring ancient Indian mythology, manuscripts, scriptures such as the Vedas and Bhagavad-Gita and it shows in her art. One of her group exhibitions last year was based on Karmic elements, in which she symbolized the deeply rooted iconography based on five Karma five elements. Her most recent paintings which were based on Lord Ganesha and his manifold ‘avatars' were exhibited in the prestigious ‘ Rich Forum ' in Stamford, USA, at the GE corporate forum in Wisconsin and the UBS Warburg corporate center in New York. Her art adores the walls of Indian corporate houses as well as homes of art lovers & who's who all over the world.
She has a passion for teaching art and has worked as an art teacher in Schools abroad for over ten years. Vanita is an traveller and makes it a point to visit at least one international art gallery every year. So far, she has visited galleries like WHO Geneva, Kartel SA Stuttgart , The Louvre, The National Gallery, Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, Museum of Fine Arts and the National Gallery of Modern Art abroad and almost all art galleries in metro cities of India and aspires to explore many more. Vinita resides in Pune , India , with her husband, JS. She supports upcoming artists eagerly, and is active in art organizations in India & Fellow Member of Bombay Art Society, Sanskar Bharati. Recently she running her own gallery successfully.
